Sequoia Physicians Network, a service of Dignity Health Medical Foundation, was formed in 2008 to expand the network of primary and specialty care physicians available to the residents of San Mateo County whose health insurance is provided by HMOs.
Sequoia Physicians Network is neither an insurance company nor a health plan; it is a nonprofit corporation that contracts directly with insurance companies and health plans on a capitated basis to deliver a network of local physicians to meet the healthcare needs of their subscribers. This network is made available under an arrangement between Sequoia Physicians Network and Sequoia Community Physicians PC, our contracted medical group that provides a panel of more than 200 local physicians, available to Sequoia Physicians Network.
